Four-Star Rating, September, 2011

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. The quality rating system gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Nursing homes with 4 or 5 stars are considered to have “above average” quality.

Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award, 2008

Our efforts received national recognition when this center was named the recipient of an American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award.

The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award is modeled after criteria from the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the nation’s premier recognition for quality achievement.

The Bronze award recognizes that the center has made a commitment to continuous quality and performance improvement. Once achieved, the designation is permanent.

Medical Director of the Year Award, 2007

Vermont Health Care Association awarded Dr. Robert Karp, our center’s Medical Director, with the Medical Director of the Year award in 2007.

Administrator of the Year Award, 2010

Vermont Health Care Association named our Executive Director, Rachael Parker, the Administrator of the Year in 2010.

Distinguished Service Award, 2009

In 2009, Dr. Karp was honored with Kindred Healthcare’s Nursing Center Division Distinguished Service award, the highest honor bestowed upon a Medical Director. Each year, a recipient is selected in recognition of his or her dedication to long-term care, exceptional service to patients, residents and their families, positive representation of the center in the community and demonstrated facilitation of a caring culture among the staff.

Pinnacle Quality Insight is an independent customer satisfaction firm serving more than 1,100 health care providers in 45 states. The Best in Class awards are given to nursing centers scoring in the top 10% for specific areas of quality service. Centers are ranked based upon monthly patient, resident, and family survey results, as well as side-by-side comparisons with similar nursing centers across the nation.

A Fortune Magazine Most Admired Company, 2009, 2010 and 2011
Kindred Healthcare, our center’s parent company, has been a Fortune magazine Most Admired Healthcare Company for the last three years.  The Most Admired list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations.  Fortune magazine ranks companies within industries, based on nine different “attributes of reputation.”  To create the industry rankings, surveys were sent to over 4,000 executives, directors, and analysts to select the 10 companies they admired most.
